Kenya CIS Virtual Conference 2021
The Conference was organised by CIS Kenya with the endorsement of the Central Bank of Kenya and support from the World Bank Group (WBG) and Financial Sector Deepening Kenya (FSD Kenya). The theme for this year’s Conference was ‘Enhancing Resilience of the CIS Framework in the face of Crisis’. The Conference brought together the leading sector players in Kenya’s credit market to review the impact of COVID-19 pandemic and related policy and regulatory interventions to the Credit Information Sharing (CIS) mechanism in Kenya. 5th Africa CIS Conference Report
The 5th Africa CIS Conference provided a unique meeting point for Africa’s financial sector players to share emerging developments on Credit Information Sharing and related aspects. The 5th Africa CIS Conference was different, with a wider conversation into the synergies that the broader credit infrastructure provides in promoting a more inclusive credit market. 4th Regional CIS Conference Report
The explosion of mobile lending is severely limiting human interaction, and causing social apprehensions (such as over-indebtedness) and data protection concerns. On the other hand, the emerging disruptions are successfully promoting a cashlight economy and challenging traditional approaches to KYC, probability of default, and changing the dynamics of access to finance. On their part, risk managers are inquisitive about effectiveness of emerging risk assessment models and their integration with traditional scoring methodologies while policy makers are concerned about implications on consumer protection and financial sector stability. Third Regional CIS Conference – 2016: Report
Credit information systems can, and should be improved, to enhance access to credit. Existing and upcoming innovations that seek to accomplish this goal inspired the 3rd Regional Credit Information Sharing (‘CIS’) Conference, hence the theme – “CIS for Innovation and Financial Inclusion – Mikopo Kisasa!” Translated from Swahili, “Mikopo Kisasa” means “Contemporary Lending Approaches”. 2nd Regional Credit Information Sharing Conference
The 2nd Regional Credit Information Sharing (CIS) Conference was held in Nairobi on September 24th and September 25th 2013. This is the second conference of its kind, the first one having been held in July 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya. This second conference emphasized the overall goal of delivering information capital in order to facilitate extension of reasonably priced credit in Africa and by so doing, catalyze economic growth.
