CIS Kenya is a member-based Association that brings under one umbrella all parties interested in promoting the extension of Credit Information Sharing (CIS) in Kenya beyond entities regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya - namely commercial banks and microfinance banks (MFBs). The Association is involved in CIS awareness creation, lobbying for legal reforms and capacity building.
The CIS mechanism in Kenya has seen a steady growth since the first live data submissions to the Credit Reference Bureaus (CRBs) in 2010. This has been evidenced by the impressive score with respect to the Getting Credit Indicator obtained in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business 2017 Report. Through the Credit Information Sharing Association of Kenya (CIS Kenya) efforts continue to be made to strengthen the operationalization of the mechanism. Currently, commercial and microfinance banks are mandated to share information on their entire loan portfolios. Some of the lenders in the SACCO sector, the Microfinance sector and Fintechs/innovators are participating voluntarily and therefore enriching the mechanism.
In a bid to maintain its legacy of organizing biannual regional conferences (See 2016 Conference Report) CIS Kenya is seeking to engage Africa wide participants of the mechanism through a conference and side training in Nairobi, Kenya on the first week of July 2018. In this regard, CIS Kenya is requesting for proposals for a consultant (Individual or Firm) that will organize and manage the conference in line with expectations of the TOR.
The consultant should meet the following requirements:
- Elaborate experience in Event Management.
- Fundraising/soliciting for conference sponsorships.
- Good understanding of Kenya’s credit market especially the principles of CIS, with special emphasis on emerging trends around innovative lending products
- Good understanding of the financial sector.
The proposal to be submitted should not exceed ten (10) pages (excluding annexes) and should contain:
- Technical proposal with time plan
- Financial Proposal
- Company profile
- Portfolio of previous work
- Statutory documents: company registration certificate, PIN certificates.
All proposals must be submitted through the Proposal Upload Page on or before COB 6th March 2018. The Terms of Reference for this assignment can be found on the top left of this page.
